So tell me ... have you purchased a new gun recently? Are you thinking about it? If so, you're not alone. Fear of an Obama presidency, in conjunction with troubled economic times is apparently leading to a substantial increase in gun sales.
Here's a snippet from an article in the Washington Post that analyzes the increase:
Americans have cut back on buying cars, furniture and clothes in a tough economy, but there's one consumer item that's still enjoying healthy sales: guns. Purchases of firearms and ammunition have risen 8 to 10 percent this year, according to state and federal data.
This doesn't surprise me at all. Back during the Clinton administration, I purchased two new handguns in the months before the passing of the so-called assault weapons ban ... and I wasn't alone. Perhaps I need to take a trip to our local gun store once again?
